Applicants do not need to take Macadamian Usability courses in order to write the examination. Macadamian Usability Certified User Interaction Practitioners (PDF) receive an authenticated certification diploma.

Introduction to User Centered Design (1-day)
The training covers a complete cycle of the User Centered Design process with emphasis on integration with typical development processes and support of marketing initiatives tied to product development and launch. The benefits and application of UCD in development teams are covered.

User Requirements (2-day)
The training covers the purpose and benefits of clearly defining customer needs and then describes how to integrate these needs effectively into a User-Centered Design process through practical research techniques. The emphasis of the course is on the translation of customer needs into clear and measurable usage metrics which can be tracked throughout a development project to ensure that user requirements are taken into consideration in the final product design.

Effective GUI Design (2-day)
This training covers in-depth training on specifying user tasks (usage scenarios) and user requirements related to design. It also covers detailed GUI screen design, GUI standards & guidelines in your software engineering process. You will learn how to effectively specify user interfaces and apply the UCD process in software interface design.

Effective Web Application Design (2-day)
The training covers the essential building blocks of a web application, including the proper interaction model for web applications, creating the information architecture and navigation scheme. In additions learn the "do's and don'ts" for converting existing GUI applications to web applications. Other topics include web guidelines and standards as they apply to web 1.0 and 2.0 applications, including the use of web 1.0 and 2.0 controls and the basic rules for visual presentation. As well, learn how to incorporate user feedback and apply User Interaction research methods to web applications to create web applications that work for your users.

User Interaction Testing (2-day)
Participants are given a deep understanding of the tools and techniques for effective user interaction testing throughout the development cycle. Topics covered include: writing a test plan, developing an interview protocol, test facilitation skills, gathering accurate and relevant data, effectively reporting test results and using the results in the design process.

Strategic Management of User Centered Design (1-day)
This training focuses on introducing a UCD process into your organization. The topics include how to get started by choosing a small, successful UCD project, Introducing and dealing with resistance to a new process, Developing a long-term strategy for UCD, Exploring the pros and cons of building expertise in-house vs. using professional services or a combination of both. You will get a framework of the issues to consider from identifying roles and job descriptions to hiring specialists, contractors vs. training existing staff in UCD process and skills.
