Timing

Online surveys are usually conducted during Assessment to help identify market segments and analyze user needs, user profiles and user requirements for the product. The data collected provides a lot of the background information needed for competitive analysis, focus groups, experience testing and task analysis. Online surveys can also be used during Visioning to test out different design alternatives or to validate usage scenarios.

Methodology

An online survey is made available to a random or controlled selection of visitors to your website who are then asked to complete the survey online. Questions could cover ease of use, task completion or user requirement aspects as well as other relevant topics. Controlled users are invited to complete the survey via email and provided with a URL and password to access the online survey.
