Eliminating the risks of human error in enterprise security
The
majority of enterprise security breaches aren't malicious. They're due
to human error, shortcuts and avoidance. Sharing passwords, failing to
log out of systems, overriding system timeouts, writing down passwords and
reusing a common bank of passwords are common security problems. More user-friendly
security systems dramatically reduce these risks.
Through user interaction research, testing and design in a range of security scenarios, Macadamian Usability has worked directly with employees, IT department and Chief Security Officers to improve the effectiveness of enterprise security systems and processes. Our security work addresses their systems, user interfaces, guidelines and processes surrounding enterprise security measures. Our work has included:
- Research, analysis and design specifications for a single-password system across a large organization. The solution reduced password-related support calls and increased overall corporate security.
- User interaction testing design and execution for web-based security processes used by a large federal government organization to authenticate and authorize citizen access to information.
- User analysis and testing of online transactions, resulting in higher transaction completion rates and fewer support calls.
