Web Application Guidelines for OAM Network Management System

Telecommunications Software Maker

The Background

This organization provides software to its customers to manage large telecom operations. They were migrating their Network Management application from traditional desktop software to a web application.

In addition this organization wanted to produce a set of Web App GUI guidelines for the Web Applications to promote consistency across geographically remote development teams in the organization.

The Challenge

Maskery was engaged to help the organization integrate multiple management tools into a single web application based on .NET. Maskery was required to specify the web interface and present it in wire frames and then go on to provide visual interaction design specifications for the look and feel of the web application.

Maskery was also tasked with capturing a set of web application guidelines that would promote consistency across the organization's development teams.

The Project

After completing an expert evaluation of the OAM Network Management web application, Maskery worked to create a specification for the complex interface. This specification was captured and presented in wire frames that illustrated the navigation model, list management and content management strategies as well as search tools.

Maskery created a visual design specification for the application and delivered style sheets which developers used to implement a consistent visual 'look & feel'.

The user interface guidelines underlying the design were captured in a web site. This site highlighted relevant design principles, the design patterns that made up the interface, and the visual design guidelines.

The Result

This organization, working with Maskery, received a highly effective and efficient web application for network management.

The completed Guidelines Website provided a resource for developers across the company (and around the world!) ensuring consistency.
