Macadamian Establishes Silicon Valley Office

March 20, 2007 Sunnyvale, California - Macadamian Technologies, one of Canada's largest software product development outsourcing firms, today announced that it has opened a Silicon Valley office, located in Sunnyvale, California.

Senior Macadamian executive, Matthew Hately, has accepted the position as General Manager of the Silicon Valley office, and will continue his role as Vice President of Marketing for Macadamian. The office will be the U.S. sales and marketing headquarters for Macadamian, and will help Macadamian reach the thousands of technology companies located in the San Francisco and San Jose area, further expanding the customer base in California.

"The timing is perfect for us to establish an office in Silicon Valley and grow our customer-base in the Bay-Area," said Frederic Boulanger, President and CEO, Macadamian. "As it matures, the software industry is learning the strengths and weaknesses of the various outsourcing destinations worldwide. While software companies are outsourcing to India for sustaining development and maintenance, they are relying on Macadamian for projects that are highly time sensitive, and for next-generation product development - projects that require a partner to assume risk, and contribute to the design and innovation of their products."

Macadamian Reports Strong Revenue Growth for Q1 2007

February 20, 2007 Ottawa, Canada - Macadamian Technologies, Canada's fastest growing software R&D outsourcing firm, today announced strong revenue growth for its first quarter of fiscal year 2007, ended December 31, 2006.

Revenue for the first quarter was $2.39 million, compared with $1.46 million for the same period last fiscal year, an increase of 64 percent. Seven new customers, as well as strong repeat business, drove the growth. Macadamian's primary line of business is providing product development outsourcing and product design services to software and telecommunications companies.

"Our customers, and the technology industry in general, are becoming more sophisticated about their outsourcing strategy," said Frederic Boulanger, President and CEO of Macadamian. "They are seeing the risks of single-sourcing, and are now thinking beyond India. Most of our customers have adopted a multi-shore outsourcing strategy, including Canada and Eastern Europe, where Macadamian has development centers. They are choosing Macadamian for release 1.0 product development - projects that require partners who can ramp-up quickly, assume risk, and contribute to the design and innovation of their products."

"I'm very pleased with our performance in the first quarter. We enter this quarter with a strong pipeline and successful products. Our high level of repeat-business is a testament to the hard work of the entire Macadamian team," explained Mr. Boulanger.

MRIA course: Product Usability by Melanie Rodney, PhD.

April 21, 2006 - Melanie Rodney will teach a new MRIA course on Product Usability. One of the most common problems of our time is the failure, or under-performance, of products that cannot be used effectively by users. These products include software applications, web applications, consumer products and web-based services. A usability research program can be the most effective tool to ensure success from product concept to product launch. In order to provide value, usability research must provide key insights for the marketing and development teams and support their decision- making at key points in the development process. How do you reconcile the business goals with potentially conflicting user goals? How do you ensure that the key customer values identified at the beginning of product development are realized at product launch? How do you develop a successful design based on user data from a variety of sources? This course provides tools and techniques for getting the most value from your usability research by ensuring that appropriate information is collected and used throughout the design and development process.
